Taking the step to begin therapy is never easy—but it is deeply courageous. Whether you’ve landed here feeling hopeful, uncertain, overwhelmed, or just curious, I want you to know: you’re not alone. I’m Christine, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the founder of Carrothers Wellness, PLLC, a therapy practice built on compassion, inclusion, and trauma-informed care.

I opened Carrothers Wellness in 2022 with a clear intention: to create a safe, identity-affirming space for healing—especially for people who haven’t always felt seen or supported in traditional mental health settings. My practice is grounded in the belief that healing happens when we are met with empathy, safety, and respect for who we are and where we come from.

Who I Work With

I provide therapy for adolescents, adults, and families, and have a special focus on supporting people whose experiences and identities are often misunderstood or marginalized. I work with clients navigating a wide range of emotional and relational challenges, including trauma, anxiety, grief, cultural identity, and more. Some of the individuals and communities I most often serve include:

  • Women managing stress, burnout, relationship challenges, and the impact of systemic oppression

  • Immigrants and first-generation individuals navigating cultural identity, belonging, and life transitions

  • Adoptees, particularly those from transracial or international adoptions, working through questions of family, identity, and loss

  • Adolescents and young adults facing school, peer, and family-related stress

  • People of color navigating racial trauma, systemic oppression, or bicultural identity

  • Members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including transgender and nonbinary individuals, exploring gender and sexuality

  • Survivors of trauma, including childhood trauma, intimate partner violence, and traumatic grief

The clients I work with often bring complex, deeply personal concerns into therapy. Some are living with pain or fear that hasn’t yet been named or shared with anyone else. Others are simply looking for a grounded space to reflect, to breathe, and to reconnect with themselves.

My Approach: Safety, Trust, and Whole-Person Health

Therapy begins with trust. My priority in every session is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and empowered to bring your full self into the room. I approach each person with cultural humility, warmth, and curiosity—not with assumptions. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to walk alongside you with support, insight, and tools to help you heal in ways that feel right for you.

I use an integrative, client-centered approach-drawing from evidence-based models and tailoring our work to your unique story, goals, and nervous system. My work is also deeply informed by neuroscience, trauma studies, and the mind-body connection, especially for clients recovering from chronic or complex trauma.

Some of the therapeutic modalities and practices I use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and foster emotional awareness

  • Brainspotting – a body-based, neuroscience-informed method for processing trauma and unlocking healing

  • Somatic regulation techniques – to help calm and retrain the nervous system

  • Mindfulness-based strategies – grounding tools for presence, safety, and emotional regulation

  • Solution-focused therapy – for short-term goals, clarity, and practical action

  • Culturally responsive therapy – with deep respect for your lived experience, culture, and identity

A Bit About Me

I began my professional journey after earning a Master’s in Counseling in 2005, working as a high school counselor in Southeast Michigan.

Over time, my work led me deeper into the realms of trauma therapy, adoption support, and identity-centered healing. In 2022, I opened Carrothers Wellness, where I could provide care that honors both clinical excellence and cultural responsiveness.

I continue to seek training in trauma treatments, somatic approaches, and culturally competent care.

Outside of the therapy room, I love recharging in nature, spending time with my community, writing, and embracing rest—a practice I encourage my clients to explore, too.
