Christine Carrothers, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor | Trauma-Informed Therapist | Founder of Carrothers Wellness, PLLC

Welcome to Carrothers Wellness

Taking the step to begin therapy is never easy—but it is deeply courageous. Whether you’ve landed here feeling hopeful, uncertain, overwhelmed, or just curious, I want you to know: you’re not alone. I’m Christine, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the founder of Carrothers Wellness, PLLC, a therapy practice built on compassion, inclusion, and trauma-informed care.

I opened Carrothers Wellness in 2022 with a clear intention: to create a safe, identity-affirming space for healing—especially for people who haven’t always felt seen or supported. My practice is grounded in the belief that healing happens when we are met with empathy, safety, and respect for who we are, what we have experienced, and where we come from.

Who I Work With

I provide therapy for adolescents, adults, and families, and have a special focus on supporting people whose experiences and identities are often misunderstood or marginalized. Some of the individuals and communities I most often serve include:

  • Women who manage stress, burnout, relationship challenges, and the impact of systemic oppression

  • Immigrants and first-generation individuals who navigate cultural identity, belonging, and life transitions

  • Adoptees, particularly those from transracial or international adoptions, who work through questions of family, identity, and loss

  • Adolescents and young adults who face school, peer, and family-related stress

  • People of color who navigate racial trauma, systemic oppression, and/or cultural identity

  • Members of the LGBTQIA+ community who explore gender and sexuality questions as well as discrimination

  • Survivors of trauma who have experienced childhood trauma, partner violence, abuse, and/or traumatic grief

What We Can Work On Together

The clients I work with often bring complex, deeply personal concerns into therapy. Some are living with pain or fear that hasn’t yet been named or shared with anyone else. Others are simply looking for a grounded space to reflect, to breathe, and to reconnect with themselves.

Some of the concerns I most frequently support include:

  • PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD)

  • Anxiety, chronic worry, or panic attacks

  • Traumaticgrief and loss, including suicide bereavement

  • Depression, emotional numbness, and burnout

  • Relationship stress and attachment wounds

  • Gender identity exploration and transgender support

  • Racial identity and cultural loss

  • Adoption-related griefand loss

  • Immigration-related stress

  • Domestic violence, family trauma, and childhood abuse

  • Women’s health concerns

  • School and life transitions

My Approach: Safety, Trust, and Whole-Person Health

Therapy begins with trust. My priority in every session is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and empowered to bring your full self into the room. I approach each person with cultural humility, warmth, and curiosity—not with assumptions. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to offer you support, insight, and tools to help you heal in ways that feel right for you.

I use an integrative, client-centered approach-drawing from evidence-based models and tailoring our work to your unique story, goals, and nervous system. My work is also informed by neuroscience, trauma studies, and the mind-body connection, especially for clients recovering from chronic or complex trauma.

Some of the therapeutic modalities and practices I use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and foster emotional awareness

  • Brainspotting – a body-based, neuroscience-informed method for processing trauma and unlocking healing

  • Somatic regulation techniques – to help calm and retrain the nervous system

  • Mindfulness-based strategies – grounding tools for presence, safety, and emotional regulation

  • Solution-focused therapy – for short-term goals, clarity, and practical action

  • Culturally responsive therapy – with deep respect for your lived experience, culture, and identity

Areas of Specialization

While I welcome clients from all walks of life, I have dedicated much of my practice to specialized areas including:

Adoption and Adoptee Identity

Traumatic Grief and Loss

Transracial and Cultural Identity Development

PTSD and Complex Trauma

A Bit About Me

I began my professional journey after earning a Master’s in Counseling in 2005, working as a high school counselor in Southeast Michigan. From there, I began my work in private practice in 2018.

Over time, my work led me deeper into the realms of trauma therapy, adoption support, and grief and loss healing. In 2022, I opened Carrothers Wellness, where I could provide care that honors both clinical excellence and cultural responsiveness.
